Update

I have graded the students projects and put those in the gradebook. The students did an outstanding job on their presentations. I am so proud of them. I have also listed this quarters participation grades, so the average you see is their second quarter average. Remember that the midterm exam will count 15% of the first semester average with both the first and second quarters counting 42.5%.

By a majority vote of the class, our exam has been moved to Thursday, December 16th during their P.E time. This means that your student DOES NOT have to come to school on Friday if they are finished with everything.

I have enjoyed each and every day with your children this semester and look forward to the rest of the year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

It is time to pick our grade level representative for the school Geography Bee. We will hold preliminary rounds in the Georgia History classes and have a playoff round if needed. This will be before Thanksgiving, so be brushing up on those Geography facts.

We need those back no later than Monday, November 15th. The cost of the field trip is $16.00 and you will be billed by the finance office. Students will also need money for lunch. We eat lunch at Yoder's Restaurant in Montezuma and everyone always enjoys it!!:)

In preparation for the field trip and our study of the Civil War, we watch the movie Andersonville. This is a great movie that accurately depicts the camp as it was during the Civil War. We will finish the material on Monday and have a test over it on Tuesday. The students are working with guided notes and should study that information. We will begin a study on Georgia Growth in the early 1800s on Wednesday and talk about the Yazoo Land Fraud (one of Georgia's greatest political scandals!).

Week of October 11-15

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Fall Break. I spent mine grading some outstanding projects! Everyone did a great job on these and I was truly astounded at some of the creativity of our students. We are entering a busy time in Georgia History as we are at the time where our collection of colonies becomes a nation and Georgia receives her statehood. In order to teach the material effectively and give students a basic understanding of our national government as it was formed, I split chapter 8 up into two sections and put in a unit on the Federal Government.

We have already begun our discussion on Chapter 8 part one and will have a quiz over this material on Thursday. I will then begin a quick unit on the Federal Government and students will have a quiz over the Preamble to the Constitution on Monday, October 18 and a test over the Federal Government on Tuesday, October 19th. I will complete chapter 8 and students will have a quiz over that material as well.

Upcoming Events:
Thursday, October 14th- Chapter 8 part one quiz
Friday, October 15th- County Quiz- list eight
Monday, October 18th- Preamble Quiz
Tuesday, October 19th- Federal Government Test
Friday, October 22nd- County Quiz- list nine

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
