Several students had asked me to make the quiz scheduled for the second part of Chapter 8 to be a test grade. In true democratic form, I put the issue to a class vote. (Ask your student about true democracy and what our founding fathers thought about it!) The class voted for this material to be a test. We will finish the material on Monday and have a test over it on Tuesday. The students are working with guided notes and should study that information. We will begin a study on Georgia Growth in the early 1800s on Wednesday and talk about the Yazoo Land Fraud (one of Georgia's greatest political scandals!).

Week of October 11-15
I hope that everyone enjoyed their Fall Break. I spent mine grading some outstanding projects! Everyone did a great job on these and I was truly astounded at some of the creativity of our students. We are entering a busy time in Georgia History as we are at the time where our collection of colonies becomes a nation and Georgia receives her statehood. In order to teach the material effectively and give students a basic understanding of our national government as it was formed, I split chapter 8 up into two sections and put in a unit on the Federal Government.
We have already begun our discussion on Chapter 8 part one and will have a quiz over this material on Thursday. I will then begin a quick unit on the Federal Government and students will have a quiz over the Preamble to the Constitution on Monday, October 18 and a test over the Federal Government on Tuesday, October 19th. I will complete chapter 8 and students will have a quiz over that material as well.
